Martha Hall began her police communications career as a call taker/dispatcher with the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) in 2008.
In 2015, Martha went on to become a full-time Communications/Technology trainer in the OPP’s provincial training unit where she was part of the team responsible for training all of OPP’s new call takers, dispatchers, experienced communicators, communications centre team leads, as well as the training for all communications centre uniformed sergeants on the use of technology and suspect apprehension pursuits. In addition, as part of the OPP training unit, Martha was responsible for officer radio training both for all new recruits and newly hired experienced police officers.
For the past 4 years, Martha has been a member of the OPP’s Communications Modernization Project (CMP) as the Project’s Policy Lead. The CMP is responsible for the rollout of a new multi-billion-dollar inter-ministerial radio infrastructure utilized by eight Ontario Ministries, including the OPP.
The CMP is also responsible for the OPP’s transition to NG9-1-1. For this, Martha is both the Policy Lead and the Training Lead.
As the NG9-1-1 Training Lead, Martha is responsible for developing all the training that will be instructed to over 500 communicators in OPP’s four communications centres situated in Thunder Bay, North Bay, Orillia and London. She works closely with the provincial training unit to ensure that all NG9-1-1 training is incorporated into all future communicator training.
