Don Berchoff, is the CEO of TruWeather Solutions, a micro-weather analytics company leveraging novel weather sensors and models to improve business critical decisions. With 40 years-experience in weather, aviation and logistics, he designed and led several Air Force weather operations centers overseeing decision support to over 500,000 aircraft missions and was the base commander at Manas Air Base, Kyrgyzstan, the main personnel, fuel and cargo staging base supporting Afghanistan in 2007-2008. As a member of the Senior Executive Service, he led the National Weather Service Science and Technology Directorate (2008-2012). Today, Don is working closely with the FAA and NASA under ASTM to develop more open UAS weather data standards for use in flight control decisions. His focus is to reduce weather uncertainty for Beyond Visual Line of Sight operations by collecting more weather data and delivering more precise knowledge about “over-the-horizon" hard-to-detect flight-impacting wind, wind shear, icing, IFR and turbulence to safely increase flight time.
