GIS mapping data will soon be at the heart of every 9-1-1 call in Canada, but are we ready for it? This presentation will highlight the importance of NG9-1-1-compliant GIS data, how it will be used to support critical NG9-1-1 functionality, and the latest timelines on when jurisdictions must be ready to leverage this data. We will discuss the issues and short-comings with existing call routing functionality in our current 9-1-1 system and reinforce why this data preparation work must become a priority  for 9-1-1 authorities, PSAPs, network providers, and the GIS teams supporting all these agencies.
