Andrew Renfree has over 15 years' experience in 9-1-1, emergency management, business continuity, and policy development. Andrew is currently the Chairperson of the Canadian NG9-1-1 Coalition, which aims to coordinate, educate, and advocate for NG9-1-1 progress across Canada. He started his career with the Alberta Emergency Management Agency overseeing the Government of Alberta business continuity program. He has audited business continuity plans for every Alberta Government department and led BCP exercises and training sessions. Andrew has served in the roles of plans, operations, and logistics section chief in the Alberta Provincial Emergency Coordination Centre (PECC) for all of Alberta’s major disasters between 2010 and 2024 including the 2024 Jasper wildfire, 2020 COVID pandemic, 2016 Fort McMurray wildfire, 2013 Southern Alberta floods, and 2011 Slave Lake wildfire. For over 10 years Andrew managed the Alberta 9-1-1 Program where he initiated a sustainable grant program to help fund Alberta’s 9-1-1 centres and collaborated with PSAPs to develop Alberta’s first 9-1-1 Standards. These Standards included extensive business continuity requirements for Alberta’s 9-1-1 centres, to ensure the Alberta 9-1-1 system is robust and reliable. Andrew has presented at the 2014, 2016, and 2023 APCO Canada conferences.
