"Chris Spence is the Director of the Alberta RCMP Operational Communications Centre, leading the team that answers the province's emergency and non-emergency calls. He brings more than 30 years of experience across emergency services — both EMS and policing — to the role.

Under his leadership, the Alberta OCC launched 310-RCMP, the province's dedicated non-emergency phone line — a system built to reduce pressure on 911, simplify reporting for Albertans, and free frontline officers to focus on high-priority calls.

He also led Alberta's side of the cross-border interoperability partnership with the Saskatchewan RCMP OCC — a project that compressed inter-provincial response support from a six-to-eight-hour transfer down to a matter of minutes, building real resilience for both provinces in the face of mass-casualty or critical incidents.

In 2025, Chris was named the RCMP National Operational Communications Centre Commander of the Year — an honour reserved for those whose work consistently exemplifies the RCMP's core values.

Chris is widely respected across the OCC community for the way he leads his people.
