Andre has been working for the BC Wildfire Service for 18 years, and as the Cultural and Prescribed Fire Program planning officer since April of 2023. Cultural and Prescribed fire has been a key deliverable for Andre throughout his career where he has supported the delivery of several ecosystem restoration, wildlife habitat enhancement and WUI projects throughout the Cranbrook area. This work has led to partnership development with First Nations and local authorities which has resulted in local capacity for the deliverance of similar burn projects.
In 2013, Andre expanded his knowledge and experience through training opportunities at the Prescribed Fire Training Center in Florida. As a certified Type 1 Burn Boss, Ignition Specialist, and Operations Section Chief, Andre is proficient in how and when to use fire as a tool for both wildfire response and mitigation. With a Bachelor of Education from McGill University, Andre often finds teachable moments to help develop future generators who are equally as passionate as Andre about good fire on the landscape.
