Speaker Bio
Bryce Bancroft, RPBio, FPBC Honorary Member, has a BSc in Biology from McGill (1978) and a Masters in Natural Resource Management from Simon Fraser (1987). It is with that background he has focused on bringing the varied disciplines together to make informed decisions. He is known for embracing challenging resource management questions and helping clients to design effective solutions, grounded in current biological thinking and local operational realities.

Over the past thirty years, Bryce has worked with clients such as MacMillan Bloedel/Weyerhaeuser, Tolko, Riverside, Western Forest Products, Canadian Forest Products, Potlatch Corporation, Forestry Tasmania, several BC First Nations, and a number of provincial agencies. He recently returned from a forestry tour of Finland focused on their use of high level planning and localized thinning regimes.

Bryce has had an interest in species and their deployment since his early years as an ecological classifier in the Kamloops Region. Subsequent work on species use and climate change has been ongoing.

A focus of recent work is on the creation of Hišuk ma c̕awak Integrated Resource Management Plans led by the Huu-ay-aht First Nation and the Splatsin Tolko Co-management Project.

Bryce recognizes the practice of forestry is one that requires the input of many disciplines and has been privileged to work with many excellent professionals and subject matter specialists over his multi-decade career.
