Tara Dunphy currently serves as the Director of Strategic Initiatives and Forest Landscape Planning for the Skeena Region at the Ministry of Forests. Holding a Master of Science degree and a Project Management Professional (PMPĀ®) certification, Tara's background in process development and strategic planning has significantly contributed to the evolution of the collaborative approach required for Forest Landscape Planning.
Since 2020, Tara has been managing the Lakes Resiliency Project, a forest landscape planning pilot in the Skeena Region. In late 2023, Tara worked with local First Nations to launch the Bulkley Morice Forest Landscape Plan, building on the work and lessons learned of the adjacent Lakes Resiliency Project. These initiatives underline her dedication to collaboratively managing forest landscapes while balancing Indigenous, ecological, social, and economic values.
Residing on the territory of the Wet'suwet'en People in Smithers, BC, Tara lives with her husband and two children. Her personal life reflects her professional passion, as she immerses herself in the natural beauty of northern BC. Tara is an avid enthusiast of running, biking, and various outdoor activities, embracing the rich environmental tapestry of the region.
