Speaker Bio
Jamie Black, RPF, is a graduate of the forestry program at the University of New Brunswick, where he intentionally geared his course options to be immediately qualified to enroll with Forest Professionals British Columbia (FPBC).

After graduating, Jamie moved to BC, where he was exposed to the province’s diverse geography, from the northwest Interior to the north coast, developing field skills that would eventually shape his views of what is possible with LiDAR.

Jamie received his RPF designation in 2017. In his current role, as LiDAR Operations Planning Lead, he engages in, and supports, projects that employ LiDAR. The basis of operational planning considers the impacts that high-level landscape constraints (caribou, old growth management area), as well as site-specific ones (riparian, operability) will have on the area of interest, then render that area down to operationally feasible blocks using a variety of tools involving LiDAR-derived products.

Jamie has also taken an active role with the use of LiDAR in the implementation of traversing and designing roads that require geometric road designs.
