Shannon Jonasson, RPF, is a member of the Syilx Nation from the Westbank First Nation band and has 28 years of experience in silviculture. She actively advocates for the crucial role broadleaf forests play in maintaining biodiversity and promoting sustainable practices.

As a member of the Interior Broadleaf Working Group, Shannon collaborates with fellow members to develop strategies for incorporating broadleaf species into landscapes that meet First Nations and stakeholder needs.

Her work focuses on enhancing the health and resilience of these vital ecosystems through innovative management practices that integrate Indigenous and community knowledge, supporting woodlot owners and conservation efforts across BC.
