Jason Yates, RPF, is the visual resource management (VRM) officer with the Ministry of Forests.
He obtained a Bachelor of Science in forestry from UBC in 2001, majoring in forest operations, then worked in the woods hanging ribbon, running deflection lines, silviculture surveying, timber cruising, and measuring streams.
Jason began a career with the Ministry of Forests in 2004 and has since served in several BC Public Service roles, including planning forester, compliance and enforcement forester, relations roles with BC Timber Sales provincial operations, and visual resource management specialist for the south area. He started his current role two years ago and works closely with the small team of VRM area specialists who are entrusted with managing visual impacts on public forest land.
Jason is passionate about the scenic resources BC offers and understands the balance of forest values that forest professionals must consider.
