Cosmin Filipescu, BSc, PhD, is a research scientist based at the Pacific Forestry Centre of the Canadian Forest Service, Natural Resources Canada. Cosmin's expertise is in silviculture, forest productivity and stand dynamics. His research focus is multidisciplinary, combining use of silviculture practices, forest management, and wood utilization.
Cosmin is currently leading research on drought response in high value BC conifer species. Cosmin is passionate about finding operational solutions to strengthen the forest resilience to climatic stressors and ensure optimal use of forest resources for multiple values.

Between 2012 and 2018, he was chair of the Cedar Research Working Group.

Cosmin received his PhD in forest biology and management from University of Alberta and his BSc (Hons) in forestry from University of Transilvania in Romania.
