Speaker Bio
Andrew Snetsinger, RPF, joined the Office of the Chief Forester in January of 2022 as manager of harvesting and silviculture practices in the Forest Science, Planning and Practices Branch. In this role, Andrew manages the provincial forest health, ecology, and silviculture research programs. He also manages a team of forest professionals with the goal of aligning provincial harvesting and silviculture to manage for a wide range of values and ecosystem functions.

After graduating from the University of Northern British Columbia with degree forestry and ecosystem management, Andrew first worked in timber development for a forestry consultant, then a logging company/forest licensee and became a Registered Professional Forester.

He next worked as a timber development forester and silviculture forester before joining the Ministry of Forests. Prior to his current role, Andrew worked in the Cascades Natural Resource District for eight years as a stewardship forester, stewardship officer, and resource manager. During that time, he worked on the Merritt Timber Supply Review and Merritt Integrated Stewardship Strategy, as well as helping plan and implement the district’s Forests for Tomorrow program, reviewing Forest Stewardship Plans, and leading wildfire and flood recovery.
