Speaker Bio
Mark Sloan, RPF, RPBio, grew up on Salt Spring Island and became interested in forest ecology at a young age. He studied natural resource conservation at UBC and completed a master’s degree in forestry at Yale University, where he specialized in applications of forest conservation and development.
Mark has spent the past 17 years working for the Ministry of Forests and is currently serving as district manager for the Sunshine Coast.
Mark is passionate about bringing people together to find creative solutions to natural resource management and has particularly enjoyed the last three years working with First Nations to co-develop a Forest Landscape Plan for the Sunshine Coast Timber Supply Area. He is excited to share the approach and experience to implementing visual resource management through an FLP.
