Russell Myers Ross, MA, is Indigenous to the Tsilhqot'in Nation and from the community of Yunesit'in.

Russ earned a master’s degree in Indigenous governance from the University of Victoria in 2010 and has since completed an eight-year term as an elected chief of the Yunesit'in Government, ending in 2020.

During his second term, the Tsilhqot'in experienced wildfires in 2017. Russ worked on planning and preparation to prevent wildfires during that time, including with the Gathering Voices Society to organize Indigenous fire stewardship by applying fire to the landscape.

He also helped with wildfire recovery.
