Transgender human rights activist and social justice lawyer, Adrienne Smith will open our 2023 event and set the stage for an exciting expansion of the Supporting Women in Trades Conference mandate.  In this awareness-raising workshop, they will share the challenges facing transgender and gender non-conforming people and guide us through common issues faced by transgender and nonbinary people in daily life and in the workplace. We will learn about the key features of contemporary transphobia and hear stories of the heroes (most who are women!) who brought cases before human rights tribunals.  Leave this session with strategies for practical action we can take to build more inclusive communities and workplaces for all.
