Speaker Bio
Dr. Amin Yazdani is the Executive Director of the Canadian Institute for Safety, Wellness & Performance at Conestoga's College Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning. He is also an adjunct assistant professor at University of Waterloo. Dr. Yazdani’s applied research focuses on inclusive design of product and work environment. He uses a multidisciplinary strategy and utilizes user-centred design approach to develop innovative approaches to prevent workplace injuries and work disability at the organizational level. In addition, he has extensive experience in collaborating with small, medium, and large sized organizations in the construction and manufacturing sector to address the health and safety challenges faced by the workforce and improve business outcomes such as productivity and performance. Dr. Yazdani spearheaded the development of several Canadian Standards, acts as the chair of a number of standard development committees, and is the recipient of Standards Council of Canada’s Young Leader Award. He also co-led a multi-stakeholder initiative to develop Musculoskeletal Disorders Prevention Guideline for Ontario. Dr. Yazdani holds PhD in Kinesiology (Work and Health) from University of Waterloo and is a Certified Safety Professional.
