Bermuda replaced a fragmented, aging radio system with a single, standards-based Powertrunk TETRA network that unifies Police, Fire, Maritime Operations, Regiment, Corrections, Customs, and more. The result is true cross-agency interoperability: shared talk groups, common dispatch, integrated CAD/AVL with fleet-wide GPS, redundant backhaul, and a resilient architecture built to resist hurricanes. The program also establishes a clean integration path to broadband: Band-14 LTE sites are being deployed to complement TETRA with data and video when and where they add mission value.
