Hongwei Liu currently is Technical Solution Specialist at Seequent. He received his Msc (2018) and Ph.D (2021) in the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Manitoba. Hongwei Liu has extensive engineering experience, particularly in areas related to advanced geotechnical earthquake analysis including probability seismic hazard analysis, ground response analysis, soil liquefaction, wave propagation, finite element and spectral element method based dynamic analysis. Dr. Liu also has developed innovative spectral element based method to model the dynamic behavior of three-phase frozen soils. Dr. Liu received the Distinguished Dissertation Award in 2022 to recognize his innovative findings on wave propagation in permafrost, which largely improved the frozen soil characterization in terms of both physical and mechanical properties based on non-destructive ultrasonic or seismic method.
