Dr. Bikram Kesharee Patra is an Assistant Professor at the International Centre of Excellence for Dams (ICED), IIT Roorkee, with over a decade of professional and research experience in dam safety. He received his Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from Concordia University, Montreal, Canada, specializing in risk-based seismic safety assessment of dams. Prior to joining IIT Roorkee, he served as Deputy Director in the Ministry of Jal Shakti, Government of India, where he was closely associated with the Dam Rehabilitation and Improvement Project (DRIP) and broader national dam-safety initiatives. His current work focuses on seismic and risk-informed safety assessment, advanced numerical modelling, structural health monitoring, and data-driven decision support for dams. He is also actively engaged in international coordination and collaboration with leading dam-safety institutions, professional associations, and research organizations.
