Rachel Sawyer is a senior mine and geotechnical engineer based in Calgary, AB. She is the Principal Technical Lead for the Integrated Life-of-Mine Planning and Geotechnical team at Okane Consultants. With over 25 years of experience, she has worked across the full mine lifecycle, from conceptual design, through to operations and mine closure. She acts as Engineer of Record on tailings storage facilities as well as providing mining and geotechnical subject matter expert reviews for owners, government and private agencies. She has extensive experience working with stakeholders including technical review boards, regulators, and community members to develop technical understanding. Rachel’s expertise lies in bridging the geotechnical design with executable construction plans to meet operational and long-term closure objectives.
