The S’ólh Téméxw Use Plan (STUP) is a strategic tool for the Stó:lō people, defining culturally significant areas within their traditional territory to guide sustainable land use and balance economic development with cultural protection. This session will showcase how the Forestry Operational Guidelines within the S’ólh Téméxw Use Plan were developed.
Rooted in collaboration and stewardship, and more than a decade of process, the Forestry Operational Guidelines is a co-developed document for forestry proponents to ensure the protection of Stó:lō cultural values within the S’ólh Téméxw Use Plan.

Learning Outcomes
By the end of this session, participants will:

  1. Understand what collaborative Indigenous stewardship forums are.
  2. Understand how forest professionals can improve referrals processes.
  3. Have learned about the S’ólh Téméxw Use Plan – a Stó:lō led land use plan that includes the cultural aspect of land management.
  4. Understand how forest professionals can protect cultural heritage resources in their forestry practices.
