Kurt Niquidet, PhD, is president of the BC Lumber Trade Council and vice-president and chief
economist for COFI. He leads economic analysis and policy development of the BC forestry
sector for COFI.
With a PhD in economics and more than two decades of experience in forestry economics and
public policy, Niquidet has advised governments, industry, and academia on issues ranging from
timber pricing and market access to trade disputes and forest tenure reform.
His work is grounded in data-driven insights and a deep understanding of the structural
challenges and global context shaping BC’s forest economy.
