Jim Girvan, MBA, RPF, has been a forestry professional and industry analyst for 45 years. With experience in consulting, pulp and paper fibre management, commercial banking and as an industry advocate with the Truck Loggers Association, Jim is not afraid to speak his mind.
With a degree in forestry and an MBA, Jim successfully forecast the ultimate impacts that the mountain pine beetle and changes to provincial wood supply would have on the BC industry and, more recently, how government policy may again negatively impact BC’s No. 1 industry.
Jim was recognized by Forest Professionals BC as a Distinguished Forest Professional in 2020 for his work in this regard.
Jim’s book, If I Had Only Known, describing the early years of the BC forest industry, was a four-week bestseller at the FriesenPress bookstore.
