Speaker Bio
I love the art of analyzing consumer trends. Observing where we are, forecasting potential, and developing the strategic vision to bridge consumer wants to reality.
In 1993 I founded Seattle’s Best Coffee Canada. I observed pockets of engaged specialty coffee consumers around the world and designed an experience to lure Canadians to what I thought was a ‘whole brand’ experience. It was this vision that grew a specialty coffee business from a uncategorized industry segment to a top consumer brand over 15 years before selling to Starbucks in 2007.
The Whitefish Group became credited with the launch of over 50 consumer brands in Canada from 1995 to 2010. Originally built for SBC Canada, WFG was known for its unique branding model and national distribution platform. Based on my knowledge of Consumer Package Goods (CPG) branding, I also founded Icon Wine & Spirits, a national alcohol import agency, and created Vancouver's first ultra lounge, George in 2005. I was an investor and became executive chairmen / CEO of the Steaz® beverage brand in the USA.
I am currently an investor and serve on the board of North America’s 2nd largest eCommerce grocer Spud.ca, I co-founded and own the Vancouver Polo Club, and have created a leading ecommerce wine business in newdistrict.ca.
Today I am a recognized leader in entrepreneurship, consumer trending strategy, and consumer branding. I have been a YPO member since 2005, serve on numerous boards, been featured in many industry publications, am a five-time winner of the Profit 100 growth award, and was a finalist for the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the year award in 2006.
