Rebecca lives as a guest on Lekwungen Territory and is a student in the Bachelor of Technology, Trades and Technology Leadership program at Thompson Rivers University as well as a Ship’s Cook with Atlantic Towing Limited. She has worked in the culinary industry for 10 years, earning her Red Seal Endorsement in 2021 followed by her Transport Canada Ship’s Cook Endorsement in 2022. She was introduced to personal and leadership development work through the Leaders In Trades program facilitated by the BC Centre for Women in the Trades and was selected to participate in the first cohort of the Canadian Apprenticeship Forum’s National Leadership Development Program. In addition to her studies and working 28 day shifts at sea, Rebecca has recently wrapped up a term as Financial Secretary of her Odd Fellows Lodge (#1 Victoria) and is currently serving as a member of Atlantic Towing Limited’s Pay Equity Committee. She looks forward to completing her Previous Learning Assessment and Recognition portfolio towards her degree this year, slingshotting her closer to University graduation.
