Rob Knochenhauer is the Director of Regulatory Affairs for Censys Technologies and helps Censys’ clients to secure Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) operational waivers (relief from § 107.31 in the United States) for a variety of use cases. Starting his career as an FAA certificated aircraft mechanic, Rob transitioned into engineering where he spent fifteen years supporting and ultimately leading the development of numerous UxS (ground, sea & air). In recent years, Rob has been on the leading edge of developing a pathway to integrate RPAS operations into the civil regulated airspaces. Prior to his role with Censys, Rob supported the Massachusetts' Dept of Transportation’s RPAS program by developing strategy for complex RPAS operations (corridor BVLOS). Rob also works to help define the pathway for unlocking complex RPAS ops for the community by supporting the Alberta RTM Trials Alliance and by contributing to Working Group WK62669, ASTM DAA Test Methods (under ASTM F38).
