Allister graduated the SAIT Aircraft Maintenance Engineers Technology program in 1994 and earned his AME (M1) license in 1996. Allister worked throughout Western Canada and the North, mostly on turbine helicopters. He has also held a Private Pilot’s License.
In 2006, Allister joined SAIT as an instructor in the Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Technology Program, instructing helicopter and regulations classes. Allister was responsible for developing and teaching SAIT’s TC Approved R66 field maintenance type course.
In 2017 Allister began teaching SAIT’s UAV ground school and flights schools as part of SAIT’s TC compliant RPAS training organization. In January of 2019 he earned his Advanced RPAS Pilot Certificate with flight reviewer rating. In 2020 Allister began to work with SAIT’s CIRUS lab, participating in large helicopter RPAS operations, and other RPAS related projects. Allister actively flies and builds a variety of fixed wing and multirotor RPAS.
Allister was the lead subject matter expert in the development of SAIT’s RPAS Program and has been instructing in the program since the fall of 2021.
