With over 12 years of dedicated experience in public safety, Justin Gilbert serves as the Assistant Deputy Chief of Communications and Technology at Barrie Fire & Emergency Services. In this role, he oversees the daily operations of their regional communications center and serves as the 9-1-1 coordinator for the City of Barrie.
Justin brings a wealth of expertise spanning both public and private sectors including people and project management, information technology and critical systems infrastructure. Justin is an active member with the CRTC’s Emergency Services Working Group (ESWG) and several NENA standards working groups. Justin’s private sector experiences also include emergency response, command and control planning for mass gathering events across Canada.
Justin holds a certification in Pre-Service Firefighting from Humber College (2012) and has furthered his leadership skills through the Schulich School of Business. He is also recognized as an Emergency Number Professional (ENP) by The NENA Institute, underscoring his commitment to maintaining the highest standards in emergency communications.
