Session Summary
Investors are increasingly applying non-financial environment, social, and governance (ESG) factors as part of their analysis process to identify material risks and growth opportunities.
While ESG metrics are not yet part of a forest company’s mandatory financial reporting, companies are increasingly making more robust, detailed disclosures in annual reports and sustainability reports. This may also become a requirement for publicly trades companies by 2024.
What is driving the rise in ESG investing, and what does this mean for the forest and financial industries? What role should forest professionals and technologies play in this emerging trend?
Learning Outcomes
Following the presentation, attendees will have gained an understanding of the following:
- The factors driving interest in ESG investing.
- How the forest industry is responding (two examples by publicly traded companies).
- How forest professionals might best respond to this growing trend.
