Shahab Moeini has over 25 years of experience leading complex engineering, research, and development (R&D), as well as unmanned autonomous systems projects with various stakeholders at both the national and international levels. Shahab holds degrees in engineering and geospatial science. Moeini is the Scientific Lead of the Center of Innovation and Research in Unmanned Systems (CIURS) at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT). Shahab is an expert in UAVs (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles) and a strategist developer, a project manager, and a co-founding leader of the UAV research and development initiatives at SAIT.  Shahab also holds an advanced certification for Heavy Duty Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (RPAS) for Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) operations of heavy lifting unmanned systems such as SwissDrones, Anavia, and Velos. His research primarily focuses on the design and development of unmanned AI-based systems for various civil, industrial, and humanitarian purposes. Shahab also works on "big-data" processing and cognitive computing and offers machine learning services. With over 40 publications and presentations at international conferences, Shahab has served as a reviewer and chaired several sessions at academic conferences and workshops.
