Moderator: Kristen House, RPF, Land and Resource Coordinator, Ministry of Water, Land and Resource Stewardship

In this session, stewardship experts will discuss the intersection of values and knowledge in the stewardship of natural resources in BC, from both Indigenous and western science perspectives. Panel members will share how they have conducted collaborative work, why it is important, and what outcomes (successes and challenges) they have experienced.

Following the presentation, session attendees will:

  1. Have a deepened understanding of Indigenous values, Traditional Knowledge;
  2. As forest professionals, consider which values are impacted by your work, and what role collaboration plays in mitigating that impact; and
  3. Have increased awareness of barriers — systemic, structural or professional, that limit effective collaboration.
