Dr. Sunil Kalia, MD, MHSc, FRCPC
Speaker Bio
Dr. Kalia is an Associate Professor at the Department of Dermatology and Skin Science, at the University of British Columbia and his special interest focuses on photodermatology and epidemiology. Dr. Kalia is the Director of Clinical Trials and Associate Head, Department of Dermatology and Skin Science.

In particular, his research focuses on phototodermatology, skin cancer prevention and early detection. He has worked on national surveys in collaboration with Statistics Canada to monitor how Canadians are protecting themselves from excessive ultraviolet radiation exposure. Currently, he is working on novel optical methods of preventing skin cancer and early detection funded by Michael Smith Health Research BC.

He is currently Associate Editor of the Photodermatology, Photoimmunology and Photomedicine journal. He is the incoming President of the Photodermatology Society. He is the Chair and co-founder of the BC SunSafe Coalition. He is the current President of the Canadian Melanoma Foundation. He is the Chair of the National Sun Awareness Working Group, Canadian Dermatology Association.
