Acadian Shore: Black River Dam, Le Caveau Winery Lunch, Grand Pre National Historical Site

Please join us for a scenic tour of the Nova Scotia Valley Region. This area is well known for its agricultural produce, world renowned wines, and historic Acadian culture. 

Acadian settlers utilized dykes to transform the landscape from Fundy Bay salt marshes into productive farmlands which have led to the valley’s present day purposes. 

Our tour will include an operating modern power dam, a luncheon at a local vineyard and a cultural tour with a focus on the geotechnical development of the area before returning to the province’s capital city, Halifax.

Itinerary:
8:30am - Leave Halifax Nova Centre
9:45am - Arrive at Black River Dam, Technical Tour, see dam and fish ladder
11:15am - Leave and drive to Winery for lunch
11:30am - Lunch at the Winery – Le Caveau Restaurant
12:30 pm - Leave Winery and drive to Grand Pre Museum
12:35 pm - Explore dykelands, walking tour outside 
2:35 pm - 45-minute guided tour of museum 
3:20 pm - Leave for Halifax
4:00 pm - Arrive at Nova Centre, end of tour

Eastern Shore: Nova Scotia Power Tour, Ruth Falls + Lawrencetown Beach Café

Nova Scotia’s Eastern shoreline features picturesque communities spread throughout the region and beautiful coastal views which have been shaped by the tides of the Atlantic Ocean.

Our tour will take us through the area to a local Cafe and Gift shop to pick up a lunch, with an opportunity to explore the treasures there and the coast outside.

The next stop will be at the newly refurbished Ruth Falls Hydro Station which sits upstream of the Sheet Harbour inlet. After an in depth technical tour with the site superintendent we will return to the Nova Centre along the coastal route.

9:00am - Leave Halifax Nova Centre
9:30am - Lawrencetown Beach Café

10:00am - Leave cafe
11:30am - Arrive at Ruth Falls, 1.5 hour tour 
1:00pm - Leave Ruth Falls
3:00pm - Arrive at Nova Centre, end of tour
