Speaker Bio
Rosalia (Rosie) Jaffray is a Master of Applied Science student in forestry at UBC. Working under Greg Paradis in the FRESH Lab, she is developing an open-source tool to support machine scheduling decisions in forest operations.
Jaffray is both a Forester-in-Training with FPBC and an Engineer-in-Training with EGBC. She looks forward to completing both her designations as she continues to build her career.
Alongside her research, Rosie is an experienced teaching assistant within the Faculty of Forestry, where she shares her enthusiasm for education, public engagement in forestry and fostering a positive learning environment. Her teaching experiences range from classroom-based learning, such as forest management planning and Patchworks to field-based learning in Chile and Maple Ridge.
Outside of work and school, Rosie is an active volunteer at a long-term care home and with Camp Engies, a non-profit that empowers young girls to explore engineering through mentorship and active learning.
