Speaker Bio
Cat Charman, RPF, is a land and resource specialist with the Ministry of Forests in the Chilliwack Natural Resource District.

She started her forestry journey more than 25 years ago. She’s been lucky to have experienced so many aspects of forestry in both BC and Alberta and has gained an understanding of forest management through the lenses of western science and Indigenous knowledge.

Her forestry experience has taken her from participating in forestry research to silviculture work, and timber harvest development, while working for industry, forest consultants, and government ministries.

Since moving to the ministry 14 years ago, she’s been with the Ministry of Forests as a First Nations relations adviser, splitting her time doing First Nation consultation and stewardship work. Her current position as a land and resource specialist has taken these experiences to another level as she gets to delve even further into forest management and working with First Nations in co-managing forest resources and the forest land base.
