This session will examine the transition from a four-quadrant dispatch model to a six-sector setup in an urban EMS center. Managing workload and reducing the span of control for EMDs were the primary focuses, with the hopes of increasing employee satisfaction and improving retention rates. While the model involves an increase in the number of staff required, the outcomes provide insight into the complex nature of task prioritization, resource utilization, and communication.
